Slide 2: Temperature experiment: (A) Staphylococcus aureus (coagulase -), (B) Bacillus stearothermophilus, (C) Pseudomonas fluorescens and (D) Escherichia coli were grown on TSA for 24 hrs at varying incubator temperatures (4, 25, 40, and 60° C). Slide 3: Temperature Experiment: Psychrophiles
​Psychrophiles are organisms capable of growth at low temperatures, typically from -5° to 15°C. (A) Staphylococcus aureus, (B) Bacillus stearothermophilus, (C) Pseudomonas fluorescens and (D) Escherichia coli were grown on TSA for 24 hrs at 4°C. Pseudomonas fluorescens was the only organism capable of growth at 4°C. (Tasha Sturm, Cabrillo College, Aptos, CA)​

Slide 4: Temperature Experiment: Psychrotrophs​
Psychrotrophs are organisms capable of growth at temperatures from -3° to 35° C. (A) Staphylococcus aureus, (B) Bacillus stearothermophilus, (C) Pseudomonas fluorescens and (D) Escherichia coli were grown on TSA for 24 hrs at 25°C. Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Escherichia coli were all able to grow at this temperature. No growth was seen for Bacillus stearothermophilus. Note: Although Staphylococcus aureus grew, it was not seen as confluent growth, i.e, there was not continuous growth along the streak line. (Tasha Sturm, Cabrillo College, Aptos, CA)​
