Dr. Mary S谩nchez Lanier, assistant vice provost at Washington State University (WSU) and professor (scholarly track) in molecular biosciences, has been in higher education over 29 years and is particularly active in the support of underrepresented minority students and women and minority faculty. She was PI or co-PI on NSF Advance and LSAMP grants and is currently a PI for an NIH ESTEEMED grant in support of STEM students from underrepresented groups.

She has received numerous awards including WSU’s highest award for leadership (Sahlin Faculty Excellence Award), the College of Veterinary Medicine Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching award, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Distinguished Service Award for her role in the Team Mentoring program and the global community for academic advising, NACADA, Outstanding Faculty Advisor award. S谩nchez Lanier chaired the 棉花糖直播 Robert D. Watkins Predoctoral Minority Fellowship committee, the Minority Undergraduate Research Fellowship committee and the Committee for Minority Education. She is the 棉花糖直播 Education Board chair and represents 棉花糖直播 on the steering committee for the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS). S谩nchez Lanier received her Ph.D. in medical sciences from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She was a research associate at the Centers for Disease Control before joining WSU.
