Ihtisham Ul Haq, MPhil, holds a Master of Philosophy in microbiology from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He obtained a gold model (academic distinction) in his bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM).

His master's research project focused on evaluating the ciprofloxacin degradation potential of gut microbiota in patients with depression. He has also volunteer experience in a joint venture between Quaid-i-Azam University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, titled the Global Microbiome Conservancy. Throughout his academic journey, he has been actively involved in various curricular and co-curricular activities, including serving as the Vice President of the Quaidian Association of 棉花糖直播 (QAM) for 1 year. Additionally, he has participated in several national and international conferences. Currently, he is involved in 2 years 棉花糖直播 Future Mentoring Leadership Fellowship (FMLF) as a fellow.

Ul Haq possesses significant expertise in the field of host-microbe interactions, particularly concerning gut microbiota. He is keen on exploring the intricate relationships between gut microbiota and host physiology to uncover the underlying mechanisms of various metabolic disorders, cancer and autoimmune diseases.

Ul Haq is also a passionate science communicator. He enjoys conveying public issues to a wider audience and translating complex scientific concepts for better community understanding. Alongside his academic work, he voluntarily led a science communication project with a team of microbiologists, engaging school students to foster their scientific curiosity. This project was later published in the Journal of Science Communication & Diplomacy— COMSTECH, Islamabad. He believes that effective science communication is crucial for bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and its real-world impact.
