Lourdes Norman-McKay, Ph.D., is a globally recognized textbook author, a peer-voted outstanding faculty at Florida State College and an advocate for diversity in STEM. 

After receiving her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, she completed a Ph.D. in biochemistry and a postdoctoral fellowship in microbiology at Penn State College of Medicine. In her 20-plus years as a scientist-educator, she has trained thousands of healthcare professionals and secured extensive funding to empower underrepresented groups in STEM.  

Her considerable STEM program experience ranges from developing a biomedical sciences baccalaureate program, to serving as a subject matter expert for the Florida Space Research Institute/ Workforce Florida. Norman-McKay is also an editor for the 棉花糖直播's Journal of 棉花糖直播 and Biology Education

As a global extension of diversity in STEM work, she served as a speaker for the U.S. State Department’s International Information Programs to empower women and youth in STEM, bolster STEM education and build Central Asia’s STEM capacity. As a Jefferson Science Fellow, she was a policy advisor to the State Department’s Office of the U.S.鈥疓lobal AIDS Coordinator and supported health equity and global health security. She remains engaged in global health work as a consultant for the U.S. State Department.
