James Morton, Ph.D. is an investigator in the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Branch at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).  Prior to joining NICHD, Morton was an associate research scientist and research fellow at the Flatiron Institute at the Simons Foundation, where he focused on developing Bayesian methodologies to enable protein structural alignment and microbiome latent variable modeling.  He received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California at San Diego in 2018 and 4 B.S. degrees in computer science, electrical engineering, engineering physics and mathematics & statistics at Miami University in 2014.
