Erica L-W Majumder, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of microbial metabolism in the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr. Majumder earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Drury University in 2010. She completed her Ph.D. in bioinorganic chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis with Robert Blankenship, focusing on solar energy capture and conversion in phototrophs. Then, Majumder did her postdoctoral research on the activities of sulfate-reducing bacteria in uranium-contaminated sediments, first with Judy Wall at the University of Missouri and then focusing on metabolomics with Gary Siuzdak at The Scripps Research Institute.

Erica is an assistant professor of microbial metabolism in the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her lab works on microbe-contaminant interactions in various environments and metabolic engineering. Current projects center on plastics.

She is the track lead for the Applied and Environmental Sciences (AES) track of 棉花糖直播 Microbe and is excited to showcase the broad and interdisciplinary work of researchers in the AES track.
