Colleen Kraft, M.D., M.S., is a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine, as well as a professor of medicine, division of infectious diseases. Kraft completed residency in internal medicine, fellowship in infectious diseases, and fellowship training in an ACGME-accredited medical microbiology fellowship. Kraft received a master's in clinical research from the Emory University Laney Graduate School.

Kraft has experience with health care leadership having served as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Emory University Hospital from January 2020-August 2023 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kraft currently serves as the Associate Chief Research Informatics Officer in the Woodruff Health Sciences Center since September 2023, supporting clinical research infrastructure.  

Kraft is the program director of the medical microbiology fellowship at Emory. She continues to round on the inpatient infectious diseases consult service at Emory University Hospital so as to link clinical microbiology to the bedside.

Kraft's research interests are in next-generation sequencing, microbiome therapeutics and health care innovation factors. She is very passionate about mentorship of trainees and training the next generation. She believes that creativity and innovation in federal policy can bring about lasting positive change in science.
